Chinese Bike News Roundup — Week of October 26, 2026
EICMA week is almost here. Milan opens next Tuesday, November 3, and the Chinese brands are already dropping teasers — so this week's roundup is really a warm-up for the big one. Next week, I'll have the full rundown of whatever actually lands on the show floor.
CFMoto just teased a new fully faired sportbike for EICMA — and won't say what it is yet.
That's the whole story, and that's why it's the lead. CFMoto dropped teaser shots of a new faired bike — cockpit, clip-ons, windscreen — ahead of its unveiling at EICMA, November 3–8, plus a new scooter for the same show. No name, no specs, no production plans yet. The obvious question: is this the production version of the V4 SR-RR prototype? That bike runs a 997cc, 90-degree V4 that CFMoto previously said makes more than 213 hp, and a prototype reportedly hit 315.82 km/h in a speed run in China back in June. Paul Tan is careful to say it's unconfirmed whether the teased bike keeps the V4 or those numbers — and so am I. But if CFMoto walks into Milan with a production V4 superbike, that's the biggest Chinese-bike story of the year. We'll know in six days.
Cyclone is bringing five new bikes to EICMA, and one of them has a solar panel.
Cyclone — Zonsen's premium brand, with tech DNA shared with Voge — laid out its 2027 lineup ahead of the show. The headliner is the RT450 GT scooter: a 398cc parallel twin making 43 hp, an 18-liter tank, TFT dash, connectivity, radar blind-spot detection, and yes, a built-in solar panel to keep the battery topped up. Behind it: the RX628 adventure twin (581cc, 63.9 hp), the AQS628 V-twin cruiser (578cc, final power figures still under wraps), and two 125s for the city — the BATLL06 naked at 15 hp and the RT-D16 scooter at 12.2 hp. One source on this so far, and these are pre-show claims, not showroom bikes — but Cyclone clearly isn't coming to Milan to make up the numbers.
Revzilla just wrapped up its long-term Ibex 450 test, and the verdict is worth reading.
After a little over a year with the bike, the conclusion installment lands on a refreshingly simple point: don't bury a $6,499 bike under $2,500 of accessories. Piled up, the add-ons turned a 426-pound ADV into a 458-pound, $9,000 one — and most of them came back off. The final setup kept just the tall windscreen, case covers, and a rear rack: six pounds over stock, a little over $1,000 in extras, and the bike's real strength — its affordability and agility — intact. The part that matters most for the "but is it reliable?" crowd: three oil samples sent to Blackstone Labs across 6,617 miles showed no developing wear concern by the final report, with metal levels settling back down after break-in. Revzilla's closing line says it plain: Chinese bikes still haven't caught up to the Europeans and Japanese, but they're not far off. That's a fair summary of where this whole scene is right now.
Benda has a new cruiser reportedly called the Rover 500. Yes, that name.
Visordown reported on October 23 that Benda has reportedly unveiled a new cruiser, the Rover 500 — V-twin engine, belt drive, low-slung retro-meets-modern styling, side-mounted dual exhausts. British riders will get the joke immediately; I'll leave it there. Here's the important caveat, straight from Visordown: no displacement figures beyond the name, no performance data, no pricing, and no official Benda announcement they could locate — the bike doesn't even appear on Benda's official model lineup yet. AutoTrader NZ suggests it could reach the market in 2027, but treat that as unconfirmed until Benda says something itself. Visordown will be at EICMA and promises details — and so will we.
One more thing before Milan: Zontes' 703F is getting a proper electronics upgrade.
Ahead of EICMA, the 2026 Zontes ZT703-F picks up ride-by-wire, cruise control, a bi-directional quickshifter, and a six-axis IMU feeding cornering ABS and traction control, plus a three-level heated seat. The 699cc triple itself is unchanged at 95 hp and 75 Nm, and it now comes in two flavors: an off-road version with 21/18-inch wheels and an 845mm seat, and a road-focused touring version with 19/17-inch wheels and a lower 810mm seat. Malaysian pricing and availability weren't confirmed in that report — but the direction of travel is clear: the mid-size adventure class is getting crowded, and Zontes isn't sitting still in it.
That's the week. EICMA press days are November 3–4 — the 550MT question, the CFMoto mystery sportbike, Cyclone's five, Benda's lineup, all of it gets answered there. See you on the other side of Milan.
